Weather in Mexico

January
The average maximum temperature in Mexico is 23°C the average can differ over the different regions but what it does show is that most places will be warm in Mexico at this time of year especially the costal areas. There is very little rain in Mexico at this time, it’s the second driest month of the year. 

February 
Snow can be expected on the high interior plateau of Mexico but those heading to costal resorts will find the weather pleasant with mild conditions. February is one of the cooler months in Mexico with an average temperature of 15°C but this is for the whole country, if you are staying in the Mayan Riviera for example Cancun offers a maximum temperature of 28°C and on the pacific coast Salina Cruz has an average of 27°C. 

March
Expect hot, sunny days and balmy nights if visiting areas like Cancun and or beaches on the Yucatan Peninsula. Areas with lower altitude such as Mexico can expect a lower average temperature of 18°C. With the dry season still in swing there will be minimal rainfall. 

April
April is the last chance to enjoy the relatively dry weather before rainy season starts to kick in. The cool temperatures of Mexico City rise up to a 20°C average with Cancun and the Yucatan Peninsula resorts enjoying tropical heat with days heating up to 30°C cooling down slightly in the evening. 

May
The rainy season starts to creep in from the south with Huatulco on the Pacific Coast receiving an average of 112mm of rain across seven days on average in May. Further north Acapulco sees just a neglible 22mm on three wet days and Cabo San Lucas remains dry. Mexico is very hot during this month with coastal areas getting an average of 30°C. Mexico City also remains dry as the rainy season doesn’t hit till further on.

June
The onset of the rainy season means heavy thunder-showers in the south of the country. Acapulco has an average 261.5mm of rain in June, with around 13 wet days, while further north Mazatlan is virtually dry with just 30mm and an average of three rainy days. Cancun’s temperatures hit well above 30°C with the occasional shower of rain. Mexico experiences high temperatures with high humidity but you can find cooler temperatures in the elevated central interior.  
The beginning of hurricane season starts this month in Mexico, but the risk of a hurricane or fierce tropical storm hitting either the west or east coast this early in the season is very low.

July
Yucatan Peninsula is extremely hot and humid in July with monsoon style outpours later in the afternoon. Cancun and the other Yucatan resort areas have temperatures of 35°C but dropping nicely at night-time. With the rainy season now well established hurricane risk is at its worst and you will experience tropical storms at the least on the Mexican Caribbean coast. 

There will be rain in most areas everyday but only for brief periods so there is still plenty of Sunshine. Cabo San Lucas is one of the driest with only 13mm of rain on average for July. 

August
Monsoon-like rains take over most of Mexico during this month with intense heat and humidity. The average maximum temperature for Cancun is 32°C and the minimum 25°C with humidity levels hovering around 78%. Conditions in Acapulco on the Pacific coast are similar. Mexico City is cooler with an average maximum temperature for August of 24°C(75°F), and humidity of 64%.

September
Cancun experiences highs of 31°C, and lows, at night, of around 24°C. At this time of year there is the threat of severe tropical storms or hurricanes on the Caribbean, Gulf and Pacific coasts.  218mm of rain fall on average in Cancun for the month, and heavy showers fall through late afternoon and evening. 

October
This is the last month of the rainy season for most regions of Mexico, with the drier winter approaching. Many locations still remain extremely hot with heavy showers throughout the evenings. Locations such as Cancun can expect 7 hours of sunshine a day. 

November
The wet season starts to fizzle out, you can still expect some rain but it will be greatly reduced from the months previously. Coastal areas start to cool down slightly too. Cancun has an average maximum for November of 29°C and a minimum of 22°C for this time of year. Temperatures and rainfall in other popular resorts like Puerto Vallarta are similar, and Acapulco is particularly hot, dry and humid.

December
Temperatures are mild to warm from the coast to the interior (but can become chilly at night time) December is a great month to go sightseeing in Mexico, because it is relatively cool but bright and sunny.
